Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Bible Translation Conference (BTC) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information on this website (btconference.org) and on the BTC Abstract Submission Portal at abstracts.btconference.org (the “Portal”).

Information we collect

From your Google account. When you sign in to the Portal with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture (the “email” and “profile” scopes). We do not receive your Google password, and we do not access your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, contacts, or any other Google data.

From you. Information you enter in the Portal: abstract titles and text, track selections, author and co-author names, email addresses, institutional affiliations and bios; registration details such as dietary and accommodation needs; and links to papers, slides, or recordings you provide. If you contact us by email, we keep your message and address.

From reviewers. Scores and comments that reviewers enter when evaluating submissions.

Registration records. Registration information BTC imports from its registration provider, so we can match registrants to submissions.

Website visits. This website is a static site. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and operations.

How we use your information

  • To authenticate you and give you the correct access (author, reviewer, or committee member).
  • To receive, review, and decide on abstracts, and to build and publish the conference program.
  • To email you about your submissions, decisions, and conference logistics.
  • To plan the conference (for example, meals and accommodation).

Google user data (name, email, profile picture) is used only to sign you in and identify you in the Portal. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not transfer Google user data to others except as described in this policy.

Who can see your information

  • Program committee and administrators can see all submissions, author details, and reviews.
  • Reviewers see only the submissions assigned to them.
  • The public may see information intended for publication, such as accepted titles, speaker names, bios, and the conference schedule.

Service providers

These providers process data on our behalf to run the Portal and this website: Supabase (database, file storage, authentication hosting), Google (sign-in), Amazon Web Services and our web host (hosting), Resend (email delivery), and YouTube (only if the committee publishes conference recordings intended for public release). We may also disclose information when required by law.

Retention

We keep submission and registration records as long as needed to run the conference, publish proceedings, and maintain conference archives. You may request deletion or correction at any time (see below), except where we must keep records or content has already been published.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and access is limited by role so each person sees only what they need. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your choices

You can view and edit your submissions and profile in the Portal. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to stop non-essential emails, contact info@btconference.org. You can also revoke the Portal’s access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date shows when it last changed.
