A Shift in Understanding: The emergence of internalization as a tool for understanding

Internalization is an important step in the oral translation process which results in a more natural translation. This paper follows the historical shift from expatriate linguist translator to native speaker of the target language and explores how this shift has highlighted the need for internalization.
