Abstract

Translation theorists pit themselves against each other as some approach translation as a tight depiction of the original while others focus on the recipients. This paper proposes an alignment based on the concept of shared meaning: a translation is accurate when it conveys the full meaning intended by the author in ways the recipient accurately understands.
