Angels, Devils, Tabernacles and Paradise: What to Do When Words Drift Away From Their Biblical Meanings
Abstract
Some language communities have a long history of Christian tradition which impacts how certain terms are translated. Due to transliteration of foreign words that come to have restricted meanings, some traditional words communicate a different meaning than the terms they purport to translate. This presentation examines four English terms: angel, devil, tabernacle, and paradise.
