Abstract

Local ownership of Bible translation projects is one of five fundamental principles of the Common Framework for best practices in the BT movement. This paper explores how an oral translation can encourage local ownership by engaging the community, illustrated with the Central Pame translation in Mexico.

Kris and Susan have served in Mexico for 13 years. They serve in an oral Bible translation project with the Central Pame. Kris' master’s thesis focused on the process of internalization in oral Bible translation. He currently serves as the Coordinator for Oral Translation Services for SIL Global.
