On the surprising evolution of Bible translation and training in Francophone Africa

Crushed by a strong anti-mother tongue colonial policy, the Francophone region lagged behind Anglophone Africa in BT. This paper surveys important recent developments: specialized BT training in French at university level, involvement of Catholics, growing interest in Hebrew, and the rising influence of performance criticism for rendering OT poetry.
