Attend the Bible Translation Conference 2021 for Academic Credit

This graduate seminar introduces the student to some of the most current and critical themes relevant to Bible Translation including Orality, Scripture Engagement, Consulting, Key Terms and Biblical Exegesis, and Translation Theory. The student will learn to contextualize and critique such issues through personal interaction and interviews with experienced leaders in BT in addition to participating as an attendee at the Bible Translation Conference 2021.

Instructor: Scott Berthiaume (PhD), DIU Dean of Academic Affairs, served with Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL in the Northern Pame translation in Mexico 1995-2015 before coming to DIU in 2017. While in Mexico, Scott was a faculty member at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, President of the Instituto Lingüístico de Verano, A.C. linguistics coordinator, PR coordinator, and Americas Areas language services director.  Currently, he is a contributor to the field of child language acquisition in minority languages.

 

Student Profile: Graduate students or undergraduates (audit only) who are interested or currently involved in Bible Translation including field project managers, field linguists, consultants-in-training and translation advisors.

 

Course Dates: August 25-December 16, 2021 (including full-time virtual attendance to the BT Conference, Oct. 15-19, 2021).

Cost: See DIU websitefinancial aid available; auditors who are DIU graduates and/or currently in a DIU program can audit for fees only. 

BT Conference Fee: 100% of the Conference Fee will be deducted from AL5398 tuition. DIU registration is open for AL5398 until August 19th. Financial aid students should apply as soon as possible.
